Click Dummy
A Click Dummy is a partially interactive prototype of a website or application. Taken literally, it’s a clickable placeholder. As a prototype, it represents the product to be developed. A Click Dummy already contains relevant features of the finished product, but does not claim to be complete. The simulation of interactions and user flows in the form of a Click Dummy is used to test central use cases of a website or product with users before they are completed. This allows users to give accurate feedback during validation. Usually, only the areas or elements of the product relevant to the test at hand are clickable and/or functional.
Nice to know:
Given their relative realism, Click Dummies are used to validate interactive elements in the product with users. This means the product to be developed is, from an early stage, designed to accurately meet the needs of users in terms of user flows and interactions. Click Dummies are usually implemented online and can be used both remotely and face-to-face.
