User Story Mapping

Contrary to the standard product backlog which is used in the project management framework SCRUM, a user story map clarifies the whole life cycle of a software product and presents the interaction of several user roles with the product. Additionally connections and dependencies are shown between theses user stories. A user story map is a constant advancing artifact in the software development process and brings transparency within the development team.

ADVANTAGE

When using user story maps the requirements of the software solution are defined all along the life cycle. Accordingly it is possible to identify gaps or missing features in the backlog and if needed to add to the plan. Additionally the user story map convey context information for prioritizing requirements and to realize a realistic release planning which promises maximum customer value at every point in the process.
